Observing session – 20210211

This observing session was long overdue. Bad weather and lockdown conditions kept me from visual observations for weeks.

Finally, a break in the weather at New Moon prompted me to book a room in a b&b so I could observe in the garden under dark skies. Observing conditions were harsh: -13 degrees Centigrade, and by the end of the session, a layer of ice covered the entire scope. Unfortunately, also the corrector plate froze, despite of dew heaters and dew shield, which affected my observations without any doubt.

It was great to be out once again, but pandemic law still prohibits group gatherings, and observing in group still has my preference. Until then, this will have to do.
